What is a Death Doula?
Who is this course for?
A death doula is a trained, non-medical professional who provides emotional, practical, and compassionate support to people who are dying, as well as their families and loved ones. A death doula works alongside healthcare professionals to help create a more informed, meaningful, and supported end-of-life experience.
This course is ideal for anyone who feels called to support others at the end of life. Whether you are a healthcare professional, therapist, counsellor, caregiver, funeral professional, spiritual practitioner, or someone seeking a meaningful new career, this training will provide the knowledge, skills, and confidence to serve others with compassion.
Do I need any previous experience?
No prior experience is required. The course is designed for beginners as well as professionals who wish to expand their existing knowledge. You'll be guided step by step through both the practical and emotional aspects of death doula work.
What will I learn?
You'll gain a comprehensive understanding of end-of-life care, including communication skills, advance care planning, emotional and spiritual support, vigil planning, family support, grief awareness, ethical practice, self-care, and how to establish your own death doula practice.
Is the course online or in person?
The course is delivered online, allowing you to study at your own pace from anywhere in the world. Course materials are available 24/7, making it easy to fit your learning around work and family commitments.
Will I receive a certificate?
Yes. Upon successfully completing all course requirements, you will receive a Certificate of Completion, recognising your training as a Death Doula.
Can I work as a Death Doula after completing the course?
Yes. After completing the training, you'll have the knowledge and practical foundation to begin offering death doula services. Depending on where you live, you may also choose to join professional organisations, obtain insurance, or pursue additional specialist training.
How long will I have access to the course?
